We treat a variety of conditions including:

Repetitive Use Injury

Repetitive use injuries refer to strains and injuries caused by the repetitive use of a part of the body. This type of injury is among the most common in the United States and often affects the arms and hands. Frequent and repetitive actions such as typing, using a computer mouse, and other movements can contribute to a patient developing this type of injury.

Neck & Back Pain

One of the most common causes of neck and low back pain are subluxations or misalignments of the spinal vertebrae. Misaligned vertebrae put pressure directly on spinal nerves, which causes pain. The pressure can be increased further by muscle spasms that may set in. Extra pressure can result in more irritation and inflammation, which leads to more pain. Stretching and massage may help to temporarily relieve the pain, but a chiropractic adjustment addresses the cause of the problem, therefore correcting it.

Car Accident/Whiplash

Commonly received from riding in a vehicle that collides with another vehicle or object or is struck from behind, whiplash occurs when the head is suddenly jerked back and forth beyond its normal limits. This can result in the muscles and ligaments that support the spine and head to tear or overstretch. In addition, the soft, pulpy discs between spinal bones can tear, bulge or rupture. When vertebrae are forced out of their normal position, it can reduce range of motion. The nerve roots and spinal cord can also get irritated and stretched. While the car may only be slightly damaged, the occupants can suffer considerable soft tissue injury.

This instability of the soft tissues and spine can result in dizziness, headaches, blurred vision, headaches, arm, shoulder and hand pain, low back problems, and reduced ability to turn and bend. It may take weeks or months for symptoms to develop as the body attempts to adapt.

To help heal these types of injuries, your chiropractor will perform chiropractic adjustments. This helps to return spinal function. After performing a thorough examination and case history, you chiropractic will develop a care plan to help restore the position of the spinal bones and help restore proper motion. If you injury is caught early enough inflammation can be reduced and scar tissue can often be minimized.

Disc Problems

The small cartilage pad situated between spinal vertebra is the disc. The nucleus pulpous or soft, jelly-like center, is contained by layers of fibrous tissues. Each disc serves as a shock absorber, connector, and spacer for the spine. When discs are healthy, they allow normal turning, bending, and overall body movement.

Spinal discs have very poor blood supply, so they depend on movement to circulate joint fluids which bring nutrients and expel waste. When a spinal joint loses normal motion, this pumping action is impaired and the health of the disc will deteriorate. A healthy disc is flexible, like a wet sponge. A dry sponge can crack easily because it is hard and stiff. Many disc problems begin like this.

A disc cannot slip, as commonly thought, because of the way each disc is attached to the vertebra above and below it. On the other hand, injury or trauma to the spine can cause spinal discs to herniate, bulge, or worse: rupture. This puts pressure on the spinal cord and nerve roots, which interferes with their function and can cause great pain. Chiropractic care has helped many patients avoid dependency on pain pills and needless surgery. While results are not guaranteed, our doctors work hard to help you naturally improve your health.

Sciatica

The sciatic nerve is a long nerve originating in the lower back and extending down the back of the leg. When the sciatic nerve is irritated, it can cause numbness, weakness, pain, or other symptoms in the lower back and down the leg. This condition has several causes including misaligned vertebra and inflammation of the joints, and bulging discs and muscle spasms. A complete evaluation by one of our doctors will help us assess the cause and determine how to remedy the situation.

Headaches

80% of headaches originate from the neck. An increased amount of tension and stress in the shoulders causes contractions in the surrounding neck muscles. This contraction of the neck muscles can cause vertebrae to become misaligned, which causes pressure on the spinal nerves, and ultimately pain. There are several causes of headaches, but headache originating in the neck (cervicogenic) results in a person feeling pain starting at the base of the skull, radiating into the temples, eyeballs, and forehead. A proper examination will help us determine the cause of your headache and the appropriate treatment.

Allergies & Cold

Chiropractic care has benefited millions of people suffering from conditions such as colds, allergies, and decreased immune system function. Chiropractic focuses on helping your body function at its best, and increases your natural healing abilities. This is especially important for those suffering from these sort of ailments.

The human immune system recognizes and destroys anything that is not supposed to be in your system. This includes pollutants, dust, pollen, dead pieces of your own skin cells, bacteria, viruses, and even donor organs and artificial hearts (plastic and metal, however, do not trigger an immune reaction). Having a healthy immune system means you have a high resistance to infection and disease. This in turn gives you a better ability to deal with stress and helps you maintain better health and well being. When you chiropractor relieves stress from your nervous system it helps your immune system function more effectively. This is something all cold and allergy sufferers need. It has been revealed in recent psychoneuroimmunology studies that the immune system benefits when the nervous system functions better.

Chiropractic is the practice of removing vertebral subluxations, or stresses on your nervous system. Correcting body malfunctions helps reduce or eliminate stress from your nervous system, and helps your body more effectively neutralize allergy causing chemicals in your environment. This also boosts your immune system’s function.

Arthritis

Arthritis is most common in the weight bearing joints of the body such as the hips, back, and knees. It is characterized by the gradual breakdown of joint cartilage. It is also common in the hands and neck. As a joint breaks down, it can lead to stiffness and increased strain on the muscles in the surrounding area. This can also place strain on other areas of the body and lead to movement compensations. This type of degenerative changes are common as we age and do not automatically result in pain. Recent studies show that the change in joint function is responsible for the pain, not the degeneration on the joint.

Our practice focuses on restoring and maintaining function by increasing the ability of muscles to stabilize and support affected joints. In addition, we emphasize joint movement and assess how the body is functioning as a whole. This helps uncover any other movement abnormalities that may be affecting the degenerated area.
