Spinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal decompression therapy effectively treats lower back, radiating leg and arm pain, and neck pain. It is a non-surgical, modern traction procedure that can be very successful in relieving a variety of conditions. This includes pain associated with degenerative spinal discs, facet joint syndromes, and spinal disc herniation. By utilizing traction, distraction, and body positioning, spinal decompression therapy decompresses spinal discs and facet joints. Studies have shown spinal disc injury is responsible for a significant number of lumbar/leg pain and neck/arm pain syndromes. Daily activities can create excessive compression forces, which increases internal spinal disc pressure. This can lead to spinal disc protrusion, herniation, and bulging disc material.

Cold Laser Therapy

Cold Laser Therapy or low level laser therapy is used for rehabilitation and pain relief for numerous injuries. This well-established therapy uses a laser which delivers photonic (light) energy to the cell. This energy is absorbed by the cell and causes an increase in the production of ATP. Increased energy in cells allows for the cells to normalize function, healing and pain relief. This also helps cells communicate with each other, which helps adjacent damaged cells absorb energy from the laser and create new enzymes that encourage pain relief and healing.

Electrical Stimulation

Using an electrical current, electrical stimulation causes a single muscle or group of muscles to contract by placing electrodes on the skin. This results in decreased pain and swelling, decreased muscle tightness, as well as increased in blood flow, which increases the healing ability of an injured tissue. Altering the current allows this modality to activate muscles, which helps strengthen the targeted tissue.

Intersegmental Traction Table

This type of modality is used to gently stretch spinal joints and help increase mobility. Intersegmental traction tables also help reduce muscle spasms and facilitate muscle relaxation. Beneath the surface of the traction table are roller-type cams which create a rolling contact that moves up and down the muscles on either side of the spine.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

This type of modality utilizes low or high frequency sound waves which transmit to the adjacent vasculature and tissues. These sound waves penetrate the muscles to cause muscle and deep tissue warming. This is useful in treating muscle tightness and spasms because it stimulates tissue relaxation. The warming effect can also increase circulation to the area and cause vessel vasodilation. This assists in healing. In addition, the frequency on the machine uses waves that will decrease inflammation.
